Born in Rio de Janeiro, Edson Fieschi fall into the art world by chance. The year was 1981 and he was preparing to begin his undergrad studies in Engineering while looking for a job in order to pay for them. A friend mentioned a back office position in Globo TV and appointed him for the job. Upon his arrival, an art director, who invited him to work as an extra, noticed him. Edson got thrilled and overwhelmed by what he saw. The following day, he started looking for information on acting schools. He would soon begin his career on stage as he studied side by side with dedicated actors such as Malu Mader, Felipe Camargo, and Maurício Mattar, with whom he worked in Os Doze Trabalhos de Hércules and who were also beginning their own careers as actors. Edson, feeling more and more motivated, decided to invest in his new passion and enrolled at CAL (Laranjeiras Art Center)’s first class, eventually graduating in 1985.
Soon he became part of the Tapa Group. “It was there that I had my best training. I stayed for four years and took part of great hits such as the play Viúva Porém Honesta, by Nelson Rodrigues,” says Edson. He loves theatre, which he deems to be the foundation of all other forms of acting. Acting has a special meaning in his life. “It is a job that requires practice, dedication and lots of work – but if I get to touch someone’s heart, it’ll have been worth all the effort,” he states. In 1994, he scored a major success with director Gabriel Villela’s A Falecida.
TV has also played a significant role in his career. In 1988, he was invited by director Dennis Carvalho to play a part in what would become one of the most successful soap operas of all times: Vale Tudo. Invited by Paulo Ubiratan, he then acted in Tieta and Meu Bem Meu Mal soap operas. In the latter, he played the part of João Manuel. “To this day, this character earns me recognition from the public,” he reckons. Having worked for several TV broadcasting companies, he’s showed his talent in many different roles.
On Streaming he can be seen in the VERONIKA series, an exclusive production by Globoplay; work by José Junior, giving life to the character Sérgio.
