Dhonata Augusto, as known as Dhon, is a young veteran of the arts. His first contact with the artistic world was at the age of 11, when he was taken by his mother to a try-out at “Nós do Morro”, a storehouse of great talents located in Morro do Vidigal, where he was raised. At the same time, he was also encouraged to practice sports: he did volleyball, bootcamp, swimming, boxing and “capoeira”, among others. In the arts, he took part in various dance, acrobatics, juggling and parkour workshops. For Dhon, art would be his path to make his way in the world and also to change his family’s life.
Keeping this dream in mind, he joined the group, led by the director Guti Fraga, and took his first steps in the theater, even taking part in a production of Shakespeare’s “Dois Cavaleiros de Verona” (Two Knights of Verona). He was also in the cast of the iconic 2016 revival of “Abalou, um Musical Funk”, which celebrated the theater group’s 30th anniversary. In the movies, he has already made his debut in style. Among other productions, he took part in the German feature film “Bach in Brazil”, a Brazilian co-production, which was the most watched national feature in Germany and it was awarded several prizes.
On television, he made his debut in “Suburbia” (2012), on “GLOBO TV”. Due to the character’s success, he received invitations to work for other broadcasters: at Record, he starred in “Conselho Tutelar” and at Canal Brasil, he took part in “Enredo de Bamba”. Dhon returned to “GLOBO TV” in 2016, where he played one of the antagonists in the soap opera “Totalmente Demais”. From then on, he did consecutive jobs with the company: he starred in the series such as “Sob Pressão” and “Cidade de Deus”, and in “Malhação – Vidas Brasileiras” and “Amor de Mãe”. On streaming channels, he has taken part in several productions, such as “Cidade de Deus” on MAX and the first two seasons of “Encantado’s” on Globoplay, as well as “Dom” on Prime Video.
As an actor and a dancer, Dhon also shows his skills in music. In his second year at “Nós do Morro”, he received an invitation to dance in a rap group. There, he learned to sing and to compose. Nowadays, as well as being an actor, dancer and sportsman, he is also a rapper. However, he uses another stage name when he composes. In music, Dhon turns out to be Dhono and he has already released singles and EPs, which have gone viral on social platforms. “It’s almost more of a character. When I compose, I become someone else,” he states.
