Since she was a little girl, Camilla Carandino dreamed about being an artist. She started drama courses when she was still a little girl. Her dream, however, conflicted with her parents’ dream of seeing their daughter ‘graduate’ with a ‘doctor’s’ degree. As a result, Camilla ended up leaving the theater course and the municipality of Volta Redonda, in the countryside of Rio de Janeiro, in search of the long-dreamed-of traditional professional career. in search of the long-dreamed-of traditional professional career. She graduated in Law and made a great headway towards her first profession. As dreams don’t grow old, she kept the arts in mind, even with her consolidated career, she decided to seek further knowledge in acting.
Her first great mentor, inspiration and encouragement was Camilla Amado. Soon after, she joined an acting course at the International Film and TV Academy with Ana Kfuri and Jorge Monclar. That’s when she definitely decided to kick-start her career transition, seeking out a professional workshop and courses such as Comedia dell’Arte with the Italian director Fábio Mangolini and a voice workshop with Vicente Fuentes. Then, the first real opportunity came along: the play “A Vida Como Ela É”, by Nelson Rodrigues.
Camilla used to work with Entertainment Law at TV Globo’s Legal Department, and it was in the halls of this network that she received her first invitation to step out from behind the camera and consolidate her career transition. After a conversation with the author Walther Negrão, the big break came: the invitation for her first role on the big screen, in” Flor do Caribe”, in 2013.
From then on, the courts were literally left behind, giving way to soap operas, with roles in “Malhação”, “Além do Tempo”, “Renascer” and the award-winning “Órfãos da Terra”, all on TV Globo. In the cinema, she made her debut with the feature film ‘Ninguém Entra, Ninguém Sai’, by Hsu Chein. Camilla also has been working as a theater producer. She has been performing annually since 2015 in the monologue “Águas de Mim”, by Íris Gomes da Costa, which discusses a very important topic: mental health.
The actress, who did Law School, has already received her due recognition. The streaming series “Desnorteadas”, where in addition to playing the character, she acted as co-writer, she was awarded at the Seoul WebFest in the Korean capital. Camilla won the statuette for the Best Supporting Actress.
